About Saundra's Furniture & Design

< The "old store" before it burned to the ground.

Saundra’s Furniture and Design first opened in 1994. The business at 279 South Main was previously Egger’s Furniture when Alan and Saundra Wilma purchased it with silent partners Donna and John Armstrong. The building had been used as a multitude of things over the years. Before it was a furniture store it had been used as gas station, a car dealership and a part of it was a jewelry store. It was home to Saundra’s Furniture from 1994 to 2013, when it went up in flames one Saturday evening after closing. Fire fighters arrived about 8 pm and the building was already engulfed with flames as high as 120 feet in the air. It was a total loss and devastating to the town.

"Fire fighters arrived about 8pm and the building was already engulfed with fames as high as 120 feet in the air…."

After the leftovers were hauled off, the location sat empty for two years during the process of rebuilding. During this time, Saundra’s Furniture used an abandoned pizza factory, old clothing store, the basement of Chase bank and several locations around town to continue business. The community displayed their encouragement and sought out Saundra’s out wherever they could to support them. Saundra’s remodeled their 6,000 sq. foot warehouse to house a temporary showroom until the permanent showroom was back on Main Street. On Black Friday 2015, Saundra’s Furniture was "Back on Main" and re-opened again.

Saundra’s Furniture is now a 26,000 sq. foot showroom featuring Big Al’s Coffee Shop, a Flexsteel Gallery, La-Z-Boy Comfort Studio and so much more. Saundra’s Furniture is so thankful for the community support and is so excited to be "Back on Main" again. Saundra’s Furniture invites you to bring the family down for a bite to eat in their coffee shop and learn about "Big Al", Alan Wilma, who was one of the owners of Saundra’s Furniture but passed away before the new store was finished. There is something for everyone and Saundra’s Furniture is proud to welcome you into a furniture store you can actually feel comfortable in.
